Lifetime Achievement Award

Eurotek 2010 was once again well attended and hit on a good balance of information, news and intrigue coupled with lots of shiny kit to play with....What more could an attendee ask for!

Well it did'nt stop there for Martyn Farr as he picked up the Eurotek 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award at the formal dinner on Saturday Evening.

One thing PSAI hopes it this is just a milestone along your career path, Well Done!


Welcome to a new world!

At 01.30 am on the 11th October Thomas Andrew Hayhurst finished his decompression and surfaced to take his first breath of air. He weighed in at 7lb 1oz and joins his sister Megan as parental terrorists!

Jen reports that husband Andy is doing well following the hard work of watching the birth!

PSAI Appoints Steve Chan & Dave Crockford as International Training Directors

Due to PSAI’s continued growth internationally, the PSAI Board of Directors have established the position of International Training Director (ITD) in order to help ensure the success of PSAI Professionals in their region, maintain the high quality training for which PSAI is known, and provide Professional Level training for those who wish to join the PSAI Family of divers and instructors.

Steve Chan (PSAI Instructor Trainer Evaluator #8) has been appointed as PSAI International Training Director for Asia, Australia and the Western Pacific Rim. Dave Crockford (PSAI Instructor Trainer Evaluator #4) has been appointed as PSAI International Training Director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The PSAI Board of Directors is currently reviewing qualified candidates for the position of International Training Director for the Americas.

Dave Crockford and Steve Chan bring with them a long and successful history in the diving industry, which has earned them the recognition and respect of their colleagues. Both have been involved in training thousands of divers and countless Instructors and Instructor Trainers from all parts of the world over the many years in which they have been instructing. Each is a strong believer in the PSAI Family concept of PSAI Professionals working together within the agency in a team effort to help each other.

Hal Watts, PSAI Founder & CEO, said of these two individuals, “I have known and followed the training techniques of Steve and Dave for many years and was excited when both of them joined our International Professional Team. More exciting was the fact that they came to the USA for training and certifications in our Narcosis Management® course.”

Gary Taylor, PSAI President, said, “Steve and Dave are both exceptional as dive educators, administrators, and business operators. They both bring to the table the knowledge of how to succeed and wisdom gained through experience in the diving profession, to best fill their responsibilities as PSAI International Training Directors in a way that only few people could. possibilities.”


PSAI Europe's Medical Advisor Gains MBE

Dr David Adey MBE BM (Doc) is to be awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for services to healthcare and as such is included in the New Years Honours List for 2009. The list recognises outstanding achievement and service across the whole of the community.

Doc has been an active member of military expeditions in the past including ones such as HMS Repulse and Prince of Wales Exped. to honour the lost lives.

Doc has filled the post of Medical Advisor for PSAI Western Europe since 2004 and continues in that role for 2009. His advice can be backed up with technical diving experience as well as that all important medical view we often seek.

We at PSAI add our congratulations to Doc and hope to see him back technical diving this season!
